grounds for dismissal and maternity discrimination

Since I came back from maternity leave I have been under the impression that my employer would like to dismiss me.
I work from home, and due to a number of things that have been said I am under the impression that my boss doesn't like this. A major issue seems to be what I'm doing and when I'm doing it. I am doing everything that it is on my job description and I'm always willing and able to do extra work.
Since coming back from maternity leave (a year or so ago) there is a major part of my job which hasn't been handed back to me. I have asked for it to be given back on a number of occasions, and I have been told that it will happen but then it is consistently undermined.
This means that I don't always have enough work to do. I have asked for more work to do- I have been told that I will get more, and then it doesn't happen.
I believe they may try to use this to say I don't do enough, even though I am asking for more work and always do as I am asked.
Can anyone offer any advice? I have been with them for nearly 4 years.

Have you changed your hours or anything about your job at your request?
You're entitled to come back to the job you left unless you take the extra leave and then its a similar job but its not unheard of that when someone goes on maternity leave that the company realise that the work can be absorbed by other employees leading to a redundancy.
Are you in a union?
It might be worth posting on redundancyforum.co.uk but be aware you will get frank replies and you may not like them but they will be IMO pretty accurate.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
Well, I have also heard evidence that they are considering hiring someone new to do what I do. Only difference is they'd be office based. The part of my job that has been taken isn't being managed properly which is effecting the whole company I think they'd struggle to say the role isn't required.
It's a tiny company and I don't have a union. How do I find an appropriate one?
No I haven't changed hours etc, I was always part time0 -
Thing is, you are a year since returning so I would expect are really past enforcing any issues, you should have complained formally as soon as the job wasn't the same.
With regards the rest, its only hear say at the moment and there is nothing illegal about that.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -

.
Are these verbal requests or in writing/in an email trail? Do you have any sort of supervision or appraisal where you could raise this and any other issues more formally? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
unfortunatly i think they were all verbal requests although i will check. I send regular updates so taht is where i would have asked.
I report directly to the MD- and he is the one who isn't giving the required work and is the one who took over the largest item of the job description (although he says himself that he doesn't have time to do it and it isnt' being done well)0 -
Have you always worked from home or did you request to do so since you came back from maternity leave? Who approved it, the MD?0

i worked from home before. In fact for longer than i ever worked in the office. and yes, the MD. I relocated which meant if they wanted to keep me, i would have to work from home.0

basically nothing changed from before i went on maternity leave to after from my point of view. i made no special requests, didn't ask for any changes to my contract- i just got on with it.0
