Claiming mileage back, is it cheating??

At the end of the financial year, i always get a letter stating how many business miles i have done.

I have used RIFT in the past to claim the excess tax back (although i don't fully understand the process). Also i did it myself 2011/12.

Will HMRC change my tax code to reflect this so i don't/ not allowed to claim the mileage within my letters from work...

HMRC cannot include this in your tax coding as it will change each year depending on how many business miles you travel in your own vehicle. You need to input a claim each year. Why do you think HMRC will prohibit you from claiming valid tax deductable expenses in the future?

Now you know how easy it is (i.e. writing a letter if you are not asked to complete a self assessment form), then I hope you will not use rip off agents in the future that charge at least 28% +VAT

    from their own website:
if your total refund from HMRC is £1,700, we will deduct our fee and the VAT and send you a cheque for £1,128.80 on the same day

Over £500 for writing a simple letter?:eek::eek:

Edit: It would probably be more appropriate for this thread to be on the cutting tax board.
