  • Thank you.. I wish I had had the courage to find all of you earlier! But now that I have, I am so grateful for the advice and its given me the push to continue!:o

Life slows down a lot when you write down and take stock of your debts! I keep paying and waiting for next week.... I am pleased with myself so far and have learnt a lot in these past weeks:D

The replies have encouraged me to plough forward... don t put anything down or I will sell it :rotfl:

I ve have only been at this for 22 days:eek: - only 4 years 343 days to go!!:rotfl:

  • No practical advice but look forward to following :)
    Time to start again :o
  • Coming to the end of my first month and writing the debts down ( and especially updating them when Ive made a payment has really helped) :)

My loan has gone down £200 (an overpayment of £40.44)
Lloyds cc down £450 (overpaid £250)
Halifax cc down £340 (overpaid £335)
    Mint stayed same
    Flybe down £100 (overpaid £75)

Its been a slog, worked lots but on right track - I originally wanted to pay overdrafts, but this such a long winded process and I had so many debts to pay instead ;)

Thank you those who have helped me start off, I feel like now I cant let people down on here :D

I have only really made one purchase which was unnecessary but fun! Tickets to see a band in December, but Im happy with that ;)

Just reading over your thread, totally sympathise with the 'how do I prioritise' thing. I saw you mention you get otivated by seeing how much interest you would save...have you ever tried entering your unsecured debts into the snowball calculator? I found it really very motivating....http://www.whatsthecost.com/snowball.aspx
  • Woooo! I love love love this snowball calculator, did I tell you I love the snowball calculator!!! I am so excited

So I start out a month ago - with a plan to pay off my overdraft, and now Ive got a plan, loan & credit card free:T

Now the snowball calculator says that at this rate I could be loan and credit card free in two years:D Love it:cool:

Ok so now I know....yay! Debt free by May 2015

    Thanks hohum:A

  • Month 2 starts tomorrow :) If anybody wants their life to slow down, then ask them to concentrate on paying off their debt, as last month was the slowest month I have ever had!:p

Well I rang sky and told them that I wanted to cancel sky movies and sports as I didn't need them anymore as the world cup was on permanently and was on the "normal" channels, so they reduced my bill by £30 month for the next 3 months! :eek:Not bad for one phonecall! :money:

I have found some old gold jewellery to take to the buy gold shop this month, one gold earring and a sapphire pendant off a necklace.. all helps to pay towards something.. its just getting the time to take it:(

I am thinking constantly now of ways to maximize savings and I am conscious of any spending....

I remember being told, there is no point in putting the taps of the bath on full - if the plug isn't in!:rotfl:
