Good credit bad credit Mortgage Application

So I have a deposit and top credit rating, but my husband only has a fair credit rating and a not so good credit history. We want to buy our first house, but I do not want to apply for a mortgage in principle and create a link between our credit profiles (we have no joint accounts elsewhere).

How on earth do I find out if we can get a mortgage without creating the dreaded link?!

Get all 3 of your credit reports down to a decent broker (that usually means one that does not work for estate agents).

If they do not ask to see your credit reports when you say bad credit... move on to the next.

What bad credit does he have and when?
How much is your deposit as a percentage of the purchase price.
