DVD-R or +R

Which one is best? (my dvd burner supports both)

Same question for -RW and +RW?

Regards.

Personal choice only but I use dvd-r, dvd+rw and dual layer+r. I don't think theres that much of a difference anymore but I started off when dvd-r was more compatible and dvd+rw was more prevalent for stand-alone dvd recorders. The only discs I now use for a purpose is dl+r's which can be book-marked to dvd rom to back up your media.

  • My experience is that DVD-R and CD-R are more often on sale. I always buy +, but dont ask me why.

I cant wait for the answer either!

+ are meant to be bteer - handle errors better, alledgedly more robust etc.

Saw something on some techie site ages back and now only buy +

I always use -R for single write and +RW for re-writable.

    - format is the official format and + is the Philips format.

There's little in them today, but at one time more players supported -R playback than +R.

I still use -R to reduce compatibly problems you once got with +R and also you often find more -R at offer prices and usually more stable discs.

-R holds a few MB more too, but only a few more.

You'll find most serious DVD users use -R.

But for home use use either that works for you.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
