Apprenticeship + bills advice

Hi all,
I am currently 26 and after some advice on what help i can get if i were to do an apprenticeship.
I am currently in a job that pays quite well but I'm not happy with the job and after a career change i would like to do an electrical apprenticeship however seeing as i am renting and have bills to pay would i get any help from the government for doing an apprenticeship considering that the wage is low?
Currently my bills come to around £1200 per month this includes rent, food, mobile phone,landline/internet,council tax, water, electric, and tv license.
If i was to do an apprenticeship am i right in saying that i would only receive a maximum of £100 per week? if so over a year i would be earning £4,800 which would mean with my current bills being £14,400 for the year i'd be £9,600 in dept each year.
What advice can someone give me on doing an apprenticeship?
Many Thanks

First of all, not all apprenticeships pay the minimum of £2.68 per hour, and if they did then it would only be for one year after which you'd be entitled to the full minimum wage. You would receive some housing benefit and working tax credits, and a reduction on council tax. Apprenticeships aren't really ideal for someone managing their own home, but if you're willing to cut back and live frugally then it's doable.0
