books, DVDs, adults clothes and baby clothes do well at boot sales.
as for prices its hard to say as it depends on your area.
you could make it easy and price books at 25p or 50p. DVDs at 50p, adults clothes try to make a little bit cheaper than charity shops would sell them at.
baby clothes - depends on 'the label' if they are designer stuff then price at a few pounds - off the rack, then its pence.
I usually think its better to sell cheaper and shift it quickly. after all better 50pence in your pocket than it lying around the house earning nowt!

I've put the car on ebay with a 24hr listing for spairs or repair starting bid of £150.
You never know, someone might bid... I want it gone sooner really as I can get £30 back on tax. Scrap places are quoting around £100 on the internet :(
My FIL gave us a Hoover for free today, it was leftover from the village hall jumble sale and was going to be binned. If it works well enough then it will do until we can afford something else. He was kind enough to take us to a little local garden centre and treated me to some veg plants and compost for my allotment, will have to do something to say thanks. Maybe make a cake or similar (carrot cake to utilise a load of carrots someone on the allotment gave me).

I will have a mooch at the car boot and gather together all the bits and pieces that I want gone. Maybe not baby stuff yet as I'm so reluctant to let go of it but the rest of the stuff can be taken.

My temp agency came back to me today saying they'd processed my hours, checked my bank account again and the wages still haven't been paid in so that's an ongoing saga

Thanks for all of the advice :)

Just a quick update, sold the Fiesta for £150 on ebay. Not as much as I'd hoped but never mind.
Transferred my insurance to my Ka, it's £100 less a year which helps to make up for the money spent on the Fiesta.
Ka needs an MOT end of July, so it gives me a few months to worry about what will happen if it doesn't pass. DH thinks there's something wrong with one of the brakes :(
The vacuum that FIL gave us for free was tried out yesterday and worked very well. It actually did a better job on the floor than the dyson had done in a long time, so will keep,on using it until either I can afford a new vacuum or it gives up the ghost. Just need to work out where to get the bags for it as I've never had a vacuum with bags before (in my adult life anyway).

In the spirit of old style MSE I have bought a vacuum bag slide for £1.49 from ebay to reuse the bag that's in there! My mum had one when I was a kid, had no idea that it was an actual thing though, just thought it was something she used. I have memories of being told off for not re folding the bag the way she wanted when I'd emptied it ;)

Don't know if you're aware, but you can put car in for MOT up to 28 days before it expires and if it passes, the new MOT will include the full 12 months from the expiry date of the original MOT.

I'm useless at car ownership! In my v nearly 31 years in the earth I've only just become a car owner and so far it's not working too well for me.
I've decided to leave thing a be for a few weeks now, so at least I have a car for a few weeks! I know that the nearside front brake has an issue (I can hear it) but that in itself in theory isn't too expensive to fix.
I took the fiesta in early for its mot with a view to knowing it would probably fail, to give me the chance to decide what to do.
I'm hoping and praying that the Ka manages to pass, or at least have a cheap easy fix on a fail!

Re the car booting When I use to do them a few years ago with my DD we always had the mind set that once we had made the price of the pitch (usually about £8.00)what ever else we made was pure profit. So as we went with the intention of getting rid of stuff we would be happy to take almost anything just so we didn't have to repack the car again:):) The best thing I ever got from a boot sale was a small writing desk that someone didn't want to take home and it cost me a quid.I took it home and polished it up and it sat in my porch to be used for odds and ends etc for a couple of years When I was redecorating my porch my late OH said why don't you get rid of it .So there was a local junk shop near to me and I asked the chap if he bought furniture .He said yes and came round to look at it .Offered me £20.00 which I accepted on the spot and OH and I had a meal out on my 'bargain :):) Moral being, one mans junk is another mans treasure :):):) Seriously though if you really want to make a few extra pounds don't overprice stuff as even 50p is better in your pocket than sitting gathering dust indoors.
    Good luck with your car

I think that the advice to have a look around a local car boot before doing one yourself is a good idea. We've done well at some and absolutely rubbish at others... Children's toys always seem to go well (Barbies, Action Men and small figures - animals, dinosaurs and the like especially), though we did have the chap who bought a load of Action Men from us for £1 each and then was selling them at the same car boot for £2! Still, we got shut of them and made a reasonable amount of money for things that had been gathering dust. Everything else always seems very hit and miss. Definitely with JackieO on the getting something for it rather than having to take it home!

I've also offloaded stuff with the c@sh for clothes type people (some will also take books, electricals, bric a brac etc, it just depends who you have locally. Some of them will also come and collect. It's not particularly good money (generally around 50p per kilo for clothes and next to nothing for books) but it's something and with minimum effort.

Some of my friends have done very well on the local Facebook selling pages, though you do have to upload photos. Generally the buyer collects, or the seller asks for a small amount to cover delivery.

I've also sold a small amount through both eBay and Amazon, only drawback there is the postage costs.

    Good luck

It's actually very good!! Old Dyson went with ExOH and wasn't that great anyway, tried a vax pet vac that was absolutely awful then got this as a 'it'll do in the meantime' job and it is better than the Dyson was and booklet tells you how to sort out filters etc. For the price paid I think it is fantastic.
