Transforming shop bought Mango Chutney

I have bought two jars of Mango and ginger chutneys that are not to my taste. I would like to know if anyone has tried to "re-cook" a shop bought chutney?
I would like to add my own spices to make it less bland.
Anyone here has had a similar experience?

I haven't tried recooking but have added chopped up cristalized ginger to a pot I didn't like very much, this gave it a kick.

You could just use them in cooking, add to a curry etc. I do a mango chutney chicken which is nice, diced chicken, onion any other veg you fancy add mango chutney and a splash of water cook until it's a nice sticky glaze.
  • I add a good splosh of sweet dipping chilli sauce to a couple of spoons of smooth mango chutney to make a runny salad dressing - delicious!!

Thanks for your replies. I ended up adding spices in the jar.
