hi there me and my partner have been in a dmp with stepchange for 15 months. during that time STUPIDLY i know, we have accumulated 4 extra debts. 2 for switching gas/elec supplier and not settling last bill from previous supplier and 2 catalogue accounts which we had opened the same time as we started the dmp(these were ment to be for emergencys) and stupidly we thought we use them and use our clothing budget to pay this back. how wrong we were. addmitently we guess weve broken our dmp terms by doing this and i feel awfully silly writing this but wondered if anyone had managed to add debts to their dmp with stepchange or should i be looking at changing to a different company to include these debts. just thought id ask before i ring stepchange on tuesday so i know really what to expect. obviously after being in this dmp and learning to live to a budget i am certain i wont be making this stupid mistake again and all my efforts are now to clear our debt as soon as possible. any advice appreciated on the additional debts thanks

Unsure, but I suspect you will have broken there terms and conditions by taking on extra borrowing while in your DMP, and there is a good chance they will stop representing you, I would think very carefully before you phone anyone, you could always say nothing to them and self manage the extra debts yourself ? then no body would be any the wiser, otherwise I suspect its back to square one for you.

Hi there, we've had our DMP for 2 years now and we've just had to replace our boiler which just "packed in". We borrowed the money from my mum and I phoned Stepchange yesterday to do our review and include this new debt. Just phone them and be honest but you MUST NOT incur any more spending, otherwise you're not truly buying into what a DMP is all about!!DMP starts June 2012, £38,180.
Balance June 2015 £26,046 (paid off 32%)

Hi,
I recently had to re-do my budget and on the online form it asks if any new debts have been accrued since the last review so I'm guessing it happens quite a bit...
Just be honest, they have been nothing but friendly and helpful every time I've ever spoken to them
On a side note (someone has to do this) 'Tsk tsk, don't do it again'.

It's possible that we will incur a new debt as we are currently in a formal complaint process with HMRC. If that fails then the modest debt will be added. Stepchange are aware and have said they will adjust the figures if we have to add it.
They asked when we would know as HMRC are supposed to reply within 15 days. I laughed and said that we first complained in December last year! They have lost our original complaint and had it sent to them since a further 3 (THREE!) times. Their last letter of the 2nd May said they will reply by 2nd May.0
