employed to self employed - where do I send my P45 to?

I recently decided to move from employed to self employed and have received my P45 from my last employer, but want to know where to send this to? Can anyone help?
Also there was an overlap of me being employed and self employed, do I need to pay National insurance contributions in both jobs?
Any help would be grateful
Thanks

Don't send it anywhere! If you're self employed, you will need to complete a self assessment after next April and will have to enter the details from the P45 on there so hang onto it.
You will need to register as self employed with HMRC and set up a DD for your NI.Sealed Pot Challenge #239

Also, have a look at the first post in the Mystery Shopping Thread (in the 'up your income' section of this board. That will give you lots of information about self-employment. You may be able to claim exemption from SE NI for the period when you were still employed.Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

Dottie, I resigned from my PAYE job to be SE only. I kept the P45 because there was no new employer to give it to.
I completed my self assessment tax returns. I got a letter from HMRC saying they thought I might need to fill in a tax return! I realised that it could be because I had a dangling P45, so I sent a covering letter with two of the copies.
I would wait to see if they reconcile their records or contact you.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?
