Asking to work to the WTR would be protected I believe as an automatic unfair dismissal case that you would have to go to a tribunal to enforce (which could cost money) if they got rid of you for this but as you have under 2 years they could find plenty other reasons to get rid of you fairly easy.

How much longer do you think they want you to do 60 hour weeks for?

“we operate an annualised hours system…your salary requires you to work 2340 hrs pa, an ave. of 45 hrs p/wk. The work of any day will determine the length of the day worked. It is not permissible to refuse to work beyond 2340 hrs if this level is reached before the end of the year”

“the length of any one shift will not exceed 12 hrs”

Any hours over/under are credited/debited to the AH system and paid out, but not deducted. Days off will be given.
    ........

    To focus on this....

how are they accounting for holidays within this annualized hour system?

if they are included how many hours are you allocated from the 2340 to holidays if not you will need to explain how they do holidays.

The two highlighted bits seem incompatible.

Once you hit the hours they can no longer give you days off for the extra hours.
