Hi,
I have been reading over all of the threads from the past, so when i got a parking "ticket" sent through to me after overstaying at a co-op car park (due to situation out of my control-genuinely) back in feb 2013, i have been ignoring the letter that have been being sent out to me, actually getting more and more threatening etc. i had initially tried to appeal this in writing explaining the factors out of my control, to no avail. Unfortunatly my wife had a clear out of all of the letters we have been sent so i cant give any examples, but im sure you get the picture!
Anyway, i have now recieved a claim form from Northampton County Court stating that the brief details of claim were "damages arising from breach of contract AND payment to the defendant to the claimant of the total amount."
It states that the preferred court for hearings is "barnet civil and family court centre."
I am now getting genuinely concerned as i dont think i should be ignoring letters from county court!
id really appreciate some advice please about this
thanks all

Don't ignore county court letters !!!!
You need to defend this in full, so I believe you can do this via email, just say that you wish 28 days to do so, and you don't dispute jurisdiction. Once that is done we can help you formulate your defence.
And as this is a coop you make complaints to them via email, you will find the email addresses to use if you search coop and civil enforcement on this forum. They are cancelling all claims by paying CEL to stop the claim, madness I know but it works. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

also blogged on the parking pranksters website , including the fact that the co-op were paying these charges
plenty of similar threads on here so use the search and find them and follow their advice, its been discussed enough times for you to get the gist of it all
and you are correct, only an idiot would ignore court letters, so dont0 -
Same advice as I gave here, only where you read 'ParkingEye' read 'CEL' instead:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4978725
If you read the links I told that poster to read (plus other CEL threads) you'll know what happens when, the fact that as you are an individual, in fact YOU get to nominate your local court, and how to word a defence and the CEL v McCafferty appeal decision to adduce as a binding decision which helps your own defence.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for your reply...
I have emailed the courts today to ask for 28 days time, for me to formulate my defence. What do you think the next step will need to be please?
Thanks everyone for your help so far

But have you contacted the Co-Op CEO's office? They can stop this in its tracks.Je suis Charlie.0 -
Hi,
I contacted coop and they have said that I pay for it and they are giving me the money in the for of a cheques the lady that I spoke to was very understanding and told me that they are getting lots of complaints like this. They are currently in dispute with this company and so are just paying people's fines at present
All good here now...thanks for your help

You need to have confirmation from the court that the claim has been discontinued. Don't assume it has, otherwise this may go through by default and you'll be sleepwalking your way into a CCJ being filed against you.
Keep on top of this! Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
