Rubbish! I had forgotten that alot of mortgages are only available if you borrow over a certain amount e.g. £25k
I'm a long way away from that at the moment, hence having not really considered it!
It sounds as though SVR is your only option from a Santander mortgage standpoint. My only advice is overpay as mych as you can when you can - there will be no overpayment limits on SVR...
I know it is rubbish I agree. But will be telling the kids it's bread on jam for a year to get rid of the mortgage! Lol0 -
Interestingly, I just happened to look at the paperwork again yesterday & it states minimum loan 6k. not 25k!
Don't know whether its worth ringing Santander back, as I always seem to get a different answer each time I ring!0 -

Yep will ring again on Friday on my day off then I have a lot of time to query it again. Thanks0 -
Ok so update is Santander said No!
So just went in and was able to make an op of £970.79 which was the tail end of the last payment due next August. So that's only 9 more payments to make to mortgage freedom......
Oh so looking forward to some decent furniture as all we have is the cheap mag stuff when we first got married.
Will try and op £200 each month to shorten it to June.0 -
My Santander mortgage won't apply small overpayments to the account, until the amount hits £500. Just check that your £200 won't be sitting there waiting....Good, clean fun....MFW #11 2015 £7657 / £88800

Will call them tomorrow as don't think it's a problem as we are on svr with no tie ins so we can pay anything.
Will double check though as don't want the payment to be just sitting there....
Oh so can't wait to be mortgage freeeeeeeeeeeee:j0 -

Confirmed today that we can pay any amount off but to call them to notify santander so that they can apply the payments.
Roll on next month....0 -
Ooh so excited to update that we have only 2 more payments to make. One one the 10th August and the last ever ever mortgage payment on 10th September............0

As a family just getting out of the mortgage trap, I'd just like to say please try to overpay even if it's a smallamount as it does shave the years off. Good luck x0
