Have these been found in multiple stores please?

Off topic, but why do some items end up 4p while others are 1p when they are clearing them? Are 1p supposed to have been removed and 4p supposed to have clearance price over ride stickers? Just curious.

    Many thanks

full terms : i might check with trading standards what their take is :

    TERMS:
This gift voucher entitles you to receive either £5, £10, £20, £50, £100 or £250 when you spend £20 or more in one transaction in Topshop stores ONLY. Spends in Topshop Concessions and online do not apply. • Present this voucher at the till. • Valid from 3rd June to 17th June 2014 inclusive. • This gift voucher can only be used by the recipient and is not transferable. Only one gift voucher accepted per transaction. • Gift voucher must be handed in upon redemption and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion and cannot be exchanged for cash. • Gift voucher cannot be used for the purchase of gift cards, gift vouchers or for paying store card accounts. Normal refund policy applies. • Topshop reserves the right to withdraw this offer at any time. Forged or photocopied vouchers will not be accepted. • Promoter: Top shop/Topman Limited trading as Topshop registered no 2317752. Registered office: Colegrave House, 70 Berners Street, London, W1T 3NL.

Just reading the terms and having no knowledge of any wider context than that (I haven't see the vouchers and don't know anything more:o:eek:), I'll have £250 please when I go and spend £20!:D

I notice however it mentions "either £5, £10, £20, £50, £100 or £250". Either/or and yet there's more than two options? From the range of different values though, it seems common-sense that you can't pick and choose one that you want, but that you would get £250 if spending £250 or more, £100 if spending £100-£249.99 etc.

Yet "common-sense" doesn't necessarily come into legal interpretation of terms! Again, it supports my earlier comment about people not writing what they mean to say but saying something else instead. These blimin' inattentive normal people!

This is strange though as, if the £250 for £250, etc., did apply then you have to spend £20 or more - in which case when do the options of £5 or £10 ever apply?:think:

If there's any ambiguity in contract terms (assuming that this is, or could form, part of any contractual relationship) then, under my outdated understanding and assuming it's still the same as it was 10 years ago, ambiguity is interpreted in favour of the consumer and the most favourable term applies. TSD may be able to assist if the supplier enforces any position other than the most favourable one: under the "Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts" as it was (probably been replaced) they have to look at the terms as meaning the least favourable meaning to the consumer and may be unfair as consumer entitled to most favourable reading.

Would it be worth just phoning topshop and getting it from the horses mouth?

Well done on finding some, I had a little look this morning and just bows all round

    That said, theory and practice!
I doubt Topshop would be operating the most favourable meaning i.e. spend £20 and get £250, in which case maybe it is a TSD issue. But that's still theory.

Personally I'd not phone to ask the supplier - sometimes we may wish things to be kept unclear!!:D:D (We don't want T&Cs to be changed to make them clear and thus give us no grounds for arguing there is ambiguity in them:rotfl:.) I like unclear legislation I don't agree with too - might provide us a basis on which to strike it down. On a practical level though, yes it might be worth phoning to find out what they mean or how you are supposed to use the vouchers. I doubt would rush off and amend the terms especially if you just ask junior staff at the till. (I'm assuming, presumably, there that there has been some communication to frontline staff? Perhaps quite an assumption!!:rotfl::rotfl: It might have been better to assume that whoever in the marketing dept. wrote this garbage certainly didn't think to inform the people who are supposed to be implementing the thing on the shop floors. I'd be surprised if they had!!) But nonetheless, ask the junior frontline people. That said, if too many people make too many enquiries and it goes higher up, they might just pull the whole thing:eek:.

Just talking about whether, for example, marketing people let frontline staff know or not.

Quite typical of people not to do things completely.
Once went to a job interview - called on about lunchtime, they were interviewing other candidates afterwards - this was on a Friday, they told me, at the end, they would let me know on Wednesday next week. Wednesday came, and went and went. I assumed they were considering the matters more and making some very difficult decision. A number of weeks passed by - do I know the right point, if any, at which to chase these people:o:o - so, maybe still too soon to get in touch, maybe not. Eventually, another week on, I just email to tell them I'd heard nothing (did tell me Wednesday several weeks ago) and what was the outcome - I was assuming by that stage, correctly, I'd not got the job.

Were you told on the day? they asked. No - told by next Wednesday (already told you that:p:rotfl:). Reply came back (obviously I didn't reply to them in that way) they selected a candidate from the day. So, obviously, after I was done, someone else, later in the day, appeared to be a 'better' candidate and they chose them. Well, fine. But - just so typical of normal people - they then failed to finish the task completely and didn't think to go on and actually to let me know.

I've noted the matter, for my records:rotfl::rotfl:.

(Such a pain though - and always from the type of people that expect standards of you that they never conform to themselves. They are always expecting "the extra mile" or whatever meaningless phrase of the day is in vogue. Yet did not do that little bit farther - the extra mile - of dropping me a line and letting me know they'd chosen someone else.) As I said, I've put a note in my own records, fwiw!
