Did anyone else get that bonus £10 email from Quidco? I don't use them very much these days but could be persuaded if there's a good cashback deal going. Check your inboxes.

At the moment I need to get travel insurance (1 year coverage) so going to do my research.

I noticed that I have started a car buying debate.

    :D

    All our circumstances are different.

    ;)

If you have the money and want to buy new, then why not?

After all, if no one bought from new, who would be able to buy 'used' cars?

As long as you do your research, haggle for a great deal and make an informed decision then I see no problems with buying from new.

The Peugeot 107 is a great example. Decent % off the RRP; low emissions therefore no road tax, great MPG, 3 year warranty. Same build as a Toyota Aygo and Citroen C1 which have got decent reviews with regards to reliability (besides, you have the warranty for piece of mind). Nippy car around the city (68bhp for a small car like this is more than enough) and people on HUKD are saying it's also decent at 70mph on the motorway with overall good handling.

Remember that the £5,995 can also be haggled down. I reckon to probably around £5500 with a free tank of fuel thrown in and 3 years free servicing.

Resale value should be decent too when you no longer need the car.

This 2 year old Peugeot 107 Access with 20,000+ miles on the clock is being advertised at £6k; will probably sell for around £5k though.

    :)

Of course, only 'muggles' would buy from new.

   ;)
well thanks to you, this muggle is off out now to look at a new Peugeot 207 active convertible. £4000 off as new model out. your mazda post started dw looking :rotfl: if I can get it at the advertised price of £12,500 job done. I think to get one a year old cheaper than this would be difficult to find. (ref this price, so 1 year old would have to be £10,000 for me).

    .

I got offered it a week or so ago, so just used quidco when I ordered a takeaway from just eat (or hungry horse) so it paid me to have a takeaway in essence. Came through okay.
