feels like forever since I posted in here what with the redundancy, preparing for exams and a new puppy on the way

I just wondered - has anyone had an EMG test? I am having one tomorrow and have just been doing some research - I had no idea they actually use needles and pretty much everyone on the internet says its very painful - I wondered if anyone in here had a reasonable experience of it?

If anyone has had an EMG test do you know whether you can take painkillers beforehand? I usually take Naproxen morning and night and can mix with co-codamol but obviously dont want to be taking painkillers if they are going to change the results....

    TIA
Yes, had them on my leg, nerve conduction tests.
They put very fine needles in, which don't hurt much then pass electric currents through, which is a strange sensation, but nothing to be afraid of.

Don't know about taking extra painkillers, personally would just take as normal. I was/am taking so many didn't even think of taking anything else.
Only surprise is they did both legs, even though only one is bad, said it was to give them a "normal reading to work from.
