Employer selling up
mikestar
Hi everyone, hoping someone can help. My employer is selling the business, I have worked there for 21 yrs, and the new owner has asked if I am interested in working for him. Redundancy was originally mentioned but not lately, I am the only employee.
When the takeover happens they will close for approx 2 weeks and noone will be employing me so I won't be paid. Am I right in thinking I am not entitled to anything, how am I supposed to go 2 weeks with no money, feeling quite betrayed at the moment.

Unless they make you redundant they have to take you on under TUPE rules. Unless you are on a zero hours contract (don't think they existed 21 years ago) they will have to pay you.Sealed pot challenge 822

Thank you, the main problem is I was expecting redundancy and now find I will be out of pocket. Not sure at the moment if I want to stay anyway as I feel there will be lots of interference from old employer. Hours of working will change slightly and i do have another job offer but its more travelling.0

If you're on about redundancy pay then you're not out of pocket as you weren't redundant and you shouldn't have relied on it.
If you don't want to work there anymore then surely move on?Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
I was told many months ago I would be made redundant when the business was sold, not relying on it just hopeful I would be able to clear some debts! I have no dates yet just that it may happen in august. My boss has told me he finishes the day we close and the business will be refurbished. The new owner does not officially take over until it reopens 2 weeks later so who is going to pay me, its like a franchise0
