And the alcoholic employee who decants vodka into a soft drinks bottle.0 -
If this is the same job then the is a history of alcohol being involved in dismissals before last year IIRC.
Might be a reason for the way it was handled.0 -

Not guilty, my boss took some and drank it proving 100% it was elderflower water.
I'm not annoyed with HR more so the person that seems to be playing head games whomever that is. Like I said HR won't tell me who complained so even if I did raise a greviance will I find out who it is?It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -

You could however raise a grievance in the way HR handled (or seemingly mishandled) your situation.
It is reasonable for HR not to disclose the identity of the complainant, but it seemed unreasonable on how they mismanaged the situation once the complaint had been received. A written apology should be the least you should expect - although I wouldn't hold your breath on that one!
Many (not all) HR personnel work in mysterious ways!0 -
When I worked in Australia we used to have drinks every Friday at our desks, and if you were working late you could go to the beer fridge no problem.
I didn't mind, but could see potential problems for any recovering (or current) alcoholics in the office. I don't know if that was in the risk assessment!0 -
I agree with getmore4less - sounds like someone has it in for you OP. Is there anyone in your office that you trust implicitly, someone you could confide in and maybe keep their eyes and ears open? Although I am aware that sometimes its your so called friends you have to worry about.
What about your line manager? Are they aware of lunchgate? It all sounds so petty and childish but if it's the same person involved, it's getting serious.0 -

I haven't said anything to anyone about my drink as I don't want to come across like am upset.
Sometimes people feel good knowing that their getting to you. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -
very true Yvonne - dont give them the satisfaction. Hard though. Just keep your wits about you. Do you have your suspicions about who they might be?0

Interesting, reminds me of my last workplace(A call centre) when I did a lot of overtime in the first month and so asked 2 supervisors on how to fill out the overtime form and was told the numbers 1-30 were a list and to write the date and time in each box which I did to get called into HR the following day and told I was commiting fraud by claiming for days I didnt work overtime and how they would "let it off" this one time but they would go to the police.
A few months later I was getting internal fake calls from a member of staff who bullied me winding me up, and when I complained they did nothing about it apart from ask her if she did it which she then approached me in staff room and threatened to beat me up(she was a generic "chav" type and very obese) then gave me death threats, so I saw her later in a pub in town and so tried to make amends and she threatened me again and said if I didnt leave the pub and never come back she would get the bouncers to beat me up claiming I attempted to rape her.
Over the next few weeks I was called into office by random management staff saying I had complaints that I had a body odur problem then humiliated me by asking me if I ever washed or cleaned clothes and I said to the manager that I had a shower under a hour ago and put on fresh clothes and came straight to my shift but she never believed me!
Point is depending on popularity of the staff member(the one in question here was cousin of 2 supervisors) and popular and I was quiet due to having aspergers she was believed over me.
Sorry if thats off topic.0
