Home contents insurers for bankrupts?

Any of you bankrupts found someone who will insure your home contents? If so, please tell me who you are with!

I arranged a quote this morning under OH's name (he has never been bankrupt), it asked if he had been bankrupt, so i said no. I thought it best to confirm with the company though as previous quotes asked if anyone in the house has been a bankrupt. He said the quote would have to go to the underwriters who would then decide whether they would cover us.

Blooming heck! What fun and games.

    Barclays Bank.
  • Thanks again Conor

I have just spoken with a lovely lady at Barclays and set up my home insurance. She made a quick call to the underwriters to tell them I was up front about being a very recently discharged bankrupt and they were happy to insure me, at the same quote I received online when they didn't know i was bankrupt so full marks for Barclays! :T

P.s they are also happy for me to pay monthly dd, whereas other quotes wanted the whole premium up front when they knew i had been bankrupt.

I have to be honest - I have NOT taken out any contents insurance since I was declared BR.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Yeah they're not bad and have been consistently the cheapest IME.

Have to say that when I banked (had current account there), Barclays were very helpful throughout it and although they froze my account, when I contacted them about it, they phoned the OR straight away and reinstated it. I certainly had non of the nightmares that people at other banks have posted about.
