separation and mortgage payments whilst we decide what's happening

Hi
My partner and I have decided to separate and have a joint mortgage. One of the reasons we are splitting is financial problems, debts, that have caused me untold stress over the years and I just can't do it anymore. Neither of us can afford to buy each other out so only option seems to be selling the house. We have 2 daughters 11 and 6.
we haven't spoken to the mortgage lender yet but I wondered whether anyone knew whether it might be possible to ask them to put our mortgage payments to interest only for the next few months whilst we put the house on the market?
We also have a joint account which I use to pay 3 mortgages,(2 mortgages are equity release loans to pay off previous debts) all bills, expenses and my salary goes into it. He doesn't really take any money out of the account. He is self employed now and basically only gives me money as and when he can afford it but not enough to cover all our joint outgoings. I have had to find all shortfalls and have had to resort to credit cards to keep us afloat and put food on the table.
The account is £3500 Overdrawn and I don't know what to do about that going forward. I've read on here you can't freeze a joint account unless it is in credit? I don't know whether to keep trying to keep everything as it is and keep trying to pay everything or to start trying to separate a few of his personal bills out or whether I should stop paying my salary into this account or will we get into more trouble with bank for not showing an income going in there?
Appreciate any advice

Requesting interest only is a sound idea. However expect agreement to be only made on a temporary basis.
At least that will give you a window in which to resolve your future.0
