    The bald answer to your question is yes, you could be disciplined.

    I think the best way to approach this is to ask your manager what they would like you to do if a member of their family wants to go behind the counter. Explain that you would obviously like to show respect to them, as your manager, and ask them what you would like them to say to their family members. This should protect you for the future, and hopefully will show willing on your part so that they would be inclined to overlook any mistakes by you in the past. :)

    (You could also talk to your co-workers and say you're a bit worried about the idea that the manager's family might test out whether people are implementing the rule, asking them what they would do. This will raise the issue in their minds, and should reduce the risk that anyone would undermine you if you try to refuse access to family members.)

    the manager has previously said when asked let them through,as it happens so often,me and the other staff are inclined to just let them go through now,maybe we shouldn't and should always ask,if disciplined is it a sackable offence
