applying for a new IT job / qualifcations

Hi all,

looking for a bit of advice here, im currently in a 1st line support role which i have outgrown about 6 months ago, we mainly support shops and internal users.

im looking to eventually start applying for a new job, but feel i don't fit any job criteria without MCSA to basically say i know my stuff.

plan is to go a 1st line desk again but with a payrise and more responsibility and more technical.

so question is, should i do MCSA windows 7 now and then apply when certified or do i have a chance even though i do not have a recognised IT qualification other than a BTEC?

thanks

Experience counts for more than exam certifications although smaller employers really like MS certifications as you'll help them attain certain partner statuses.

You say you've outgrown it 6months ago.. how long have you been there? Is there any reason you can't stay a little longer and do the certifications anyway to further your skillset whilst you have an easy-going job?

I would be looking for 2nd line work if you have been in 1st line for a while already though. Onwards & upwards!
