If you go anywhere near the £189 price point, it should at least come with a free game. Last year I spent £199 and got it with a new release (The Last of Us), but since then I've seen deals for the 500GB Console with a pair of games for £189. If you've still got time, it might be worth holding out for a better deal, as I doubt anywhere will run out of PS3 stock any time soon.

If you need to move now, there are a few options. I just spotted this one over on HUKD:

    http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/ps3-12gb-console-with-fifa-world-cup-2x-dual-shock-3-controllers-for-130-using-code-1910317

£130 for the 12GB console, two controllers and Fifa World Cup. You can easily upgrade this to a 500 GB console by buying the hard drive separate (just do an Amazon search for PS3 hard drive, any 2.5" SATA should do it) and a super slim PS3 hard drive mounting caddy. Should cost about £50 - £60 in total and give you a lot more than the standard bundle.

However, if that sounds a little overwhelming, you can get the 500GB console by itself for £179 on Zavvi at the moment:

    http://www.zavvi.com/games/consoles/ps3-new-sony-playstation-3-slim-console-500-gb-black/10639527.html

It's not an outstanding deal, and better ones may be just around the corner if you can wait, but if not, that's another £10 off your original price :)

If preowned doesn't bother you, you should be able to pick up a second hand console for £100 - £130, and if you get it from GAME, it comes with a 12 month guarantee.

    Hope that helps!
  • As per the above, if you are trying to save money Game (often) sell refurbed ones for £99, including a 1 year guarantee.

The one I bought was totally spotless and has performed perfectly since I got it.
    Thinking critically since 1996....

sorry a bit late but i've been away. a deal that you may like is at game. 500gb console with gran turismo 6 and the last of us for £199.99.
  • Hi. Personally I would go for eBay. A used ps3 with 250 GB (which is ample) can be found with a few games, anything up to five usually, for around 120 to 170.
Also, you can find game bundles on eBay for very good prices. Personally I wait when a game comes out for a few months and then just pick it up on eBay for at least half the price.
    I hope this helped.
  • I would get a second hand one, maybe use gumtree, people will be looking to cash in so they can buy PS4s.

The only thing i would say about buying one on ebay is to avoid older consoles due to the "yellow light of death".

i wouldnt buy any second hand console as you dont know how well looked after it has been or how much usage it has had.
