Hi guys, quick bit if background, I am 28 years old.
Went through school and got 9 GCSEs and 3 A Levels. Went on to University and did Business and Accounting and graduated. Worked in a local supermarket at weekends whilst at University. After graduation I got promoted into the Accounts department in the supermarket (general office admin) (Salary £16k).
A year later the company moves headquarters and I become the head in the new place as the old one left as he couldn’t do the travelling to new HQ (Salary £22k). Two yrs later large multi-national buys over the company and within one year, they promote me to a management accountant role in their HQ (Salary £27k).
After two years in that job, I get sick of it and move to a similar job in a different industry salary £34k. In this new job it’s quite the same as old – a bit boring – I get all my work done and am introducing new things, but it bores me, and I find it hard to get motivated.
Over the past 3 years I have been on and off doing accounts exams to become chartered and am about 1/3rd way through. I have begun failing the exams as I have not been putting the effort in and have really started to wonder if this is what I want to continue doing.
If I work my !!! off I know I can get through the course and become chartered and get to £50-60k+ salary some day. Just since I have started failing exams, I am wondering if I am cut out for it – and if I stop the exams I will need to change jobs – current role is really working towards me becoming a financial controller for the company (for which I am sure I need to be chartered).
Just bought a house, getting married next year. Do I continue doing what I don’t really like for the rest of my days just to earn enough for a comfortable life when I am not at work?

You should take comfort knowing that your salary is 3x above the national minimum wage. Do you hate the job? Or just dislike it?
You seem to have been promoted quite alot where you are. Who knows what the future holds in that company?0 -
The grass is almost never greener the other side having said that you should take stock of what you would enjoy doing for a living and then see if it is realistic and achievable. All that glitters is not gold.0

I don't hate it, it's work, it's decent money and close to home for me. It's just that I feel if I am not 100% committed to it and am not passionate about it, do I just keep the head down and go through the motions just to pay the bills?
Just wondering should you find what you love doing and go for it rather than the easier option of staying put and going through the motions for the next 30 years!
First world problems I guess!0
