Pyrex dish size?

Hi,

I am looking at buying a couple of pyrex dishes to freeze lasagne in.
There is only 2 of us and I need 2 portion dish.. I am just completely lost which size to get! They all look too small/big, I just cannot imagine the right size..
I don't want to buy necessarily big because I constantly fight freezer space.

Our portion sizes are about the same as M&S 1 person lasagne.. Those are 400gr. No idea how that translates into ml..

What size do you use?

Thank you

    Good morning.
I love these dishes, I find having the lid so useful.
    I bought mine in Asda.

I use the dishes in the fridge and freezer.
In the freezer, more for casserole, chilli and cottage pie.
My lasagne, I tend to make in a big dish. 8 portions.
When cold I put x2 portions in a freezer bag and pop in the freezer.

    I often batch cook.

The 1.5L is the x2 portion dish.
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)

I try to batch cook as well, for things like chilli and stews I can freeze in plastic containers and then tip out into the pan, but for things that need to go to the over after need the glass dish (I tried the metal containers but don't like them).

Thank you for that! I will get the 1.5l one.

Did you buy the Pyrex one at Asda? Or some other make?

Yes, the same Pyrex one at Asda.

I find lasagne is more solid and will hold its portion size. This is why i can put in a freezer bag. When i want to defrost a portion I put it back in a pyrex dish.

I have some of the dishes too (bought from Woolworth's:rotfl:) but I rarely leave the dishes in the freezer.

What I tend to do mostly is just freeze the Bolognese sauce in plastic containers from £ shop and make up into lasagne on the day when we want it. I freeze in portions for two but can get out more than one if we have people coming round and I need to rustle up a quick meal.

I freeze liver a bit like good advice. I line a small bowl with cling film put the liver in and freeze. When solid, take out of the bowl, wrap the cling film round and store in portions. Use the same bowl (LO from small Christmas puddings;)) for defrosting. And I do the same with HM braised red cabbage, just freeze two person side portions.

You can make any size you fancy and freeze in portions. A portion fits into a sandwich box just right. ;)
