I know you guys will give me good ideas for a USB Web-Cam for Skype with a mic' , a friend who has recently lost her husband, would like to talk with some of her relatives around the world and they want her to have Skype, so I have been tasked to advise. Not having used Skype nor my laptop webcam for such I would like to hear your recommendations. She has a Win 7 32bit Home Desktop ....over to you guys please.

It doesn't need anything special. But the higher the quality of the webcam, the better the necessary spec of the PC.
Windows 7 32 bit Home Desktop doesn't tell us much. Nor is there a stated budget.
Some people may also choose to connect their PC via HDMI or similar, to a large screen TV.
So perhaps a few more questions will allow you to make the best choice for her.

Sorry ND been to the funeral today, but no HDMI, it's a 22inch VGA screen the PC is a two-three year old Dell i3-2xxx no graphics card. her download speed is around 10Mbps, it's only for occasional use and no USB3, budget is "CHeap as Chips" but I guestimated circa £30 whilst toasting the dear departed. I will probably get more info after a few days....Just wanted a few feelers before I get a bit more relaxed

LifeCam HD-3000 would be my starting point. Expect to pay £15 to £20. Perhaps less if you bid on one via eBay.

720p at 30fps means that the relatives should see more than just a blurry and jerky figure....if the PC is up to the task. Should be.
