Dispensing?

Legal without training/qualifications?
My employer seems to think it's fine for me to go work in a dispensary despite my lack of experience/training/qualifications.
Should I be outright refusing?
I can't seem to find a very definitive answer online. It seems to lean towards it being illegal.

Its fine as long as you are working towards a dispensary assistant qualification and are being supervised by the pharmacist and your work is being checked xx0

I'm not training towards a qualification. I've not read or seen any SOPs or regulations.
I'm not even fully qualified to give healthcare advice for pharmacy lines of non-prescription meds.
They can get four-lettered anyway. Dispensers get £2 an hour more than me. I'm not doing them a favour for a day in lieu.
And they get all stroppy when I make mistakes or ask questions.
"Go put that in the (pharmacy area)."
Yeah, I've never done this kind of work, nor have I ever worked in this pharmacy.
The last time I got transferred to a pharmacy only place I was only allowed to date check the GSLs. The pharmacist wouldn't let me in the actual pharmacy area.0 -
I have worked in pharmacy for the past ten years.
You should be at least on a DAC (dispensing assistant course) to be able to work in the pharmacy within the dispensary.
I'm pretty sure it's illegal otherwise.
Illegal for the company, they will be the ones that get into trouble though, not you.0 -

This is really keeping me awake tonight.
The guidelines seem to reflect what you're saying though.
To perform minimal duty you need to have enrolled on a dispensing training programme and have an 'understanding' of 3 of the core units.
I just don't want any conflict because I've been all favours for this company and I'm really not up for any insinuation that I'm uncooperative.
3 'permanent' transfers in 12 months
4 instances of assisting other branches who were struggling.
Every bank holiday worked in 13 months
But you're only as good as your last favour, I guess. Typical.0 -
I was in a situation like this a few years ago even though I did label up medication I would not sign the label that was up to the pharmacist
thankfully now got my dac0 -

After reading about that Georgina Mahoney person who got fined and a criminal record for handing out the pharmacist's mistake, I'm just avoiding the entire pharmacy until I've finished my HCA course and been enrolled on DAC.
I'm just expecting to arrive and they'll expect me to dispense. I'll refuse and they'll ask me to date check, even though I've seen the date checking report and know it was done the day before I arrived.
I hope I can hold my tongue lol.0
