Hairdresser chopped and damaged my hair

Hello,
I went to a really expensive hairdresser in London and told him specifically that I wanted to keep my hair long. My previous cut, had a V (the longest part was in the middle). So, he decided without asking, to get rid of the V, and, so of the lenght. He was so rough and I had to go to an appointment, so, since the front looked almost as long as before, I didn't check the back. I only felt that my hair was like wire or straw. Told myself that it would be better soon, that it might have been the product he used, etc. Until I was going back home and saw my hair in the train's bathroom. It was chopped. It's been days and I was used to long, black, thick, healthy hair. Now, I have this ruler cut, straight, shorter, boring, horrible texture, straw like hair. I have contacted the salon and they ask me to go back to discuss the situation. Well, what is the solution if a customer is both £175 and 15 cms of hair shorter? Who do I complain to? I have pictures of my hair, recent as well. If they give me a refund, I will feel less stupid about not only going there but paying so much to have my hair ruined. It is awful and my hair was really pretty. Please advise me...

What exactly did you ask the hairdresser to do? You say you asked to keep it long, and are upset that it's now shorter, but when the hairdresser asked what you wanted doing, what did you ask for?

I'd contact the hairdresser and ask for a meeting to discuss the issues you have and try to come to a solution.

Go to another independent salon (one you have never been to before), ask to speak with their senior stylist and ask their opinion - tell them what you asked for, and show them the photos. Make a note of what they say.

Then go back to the hairdresser, ask to speak with the manager AND owner (not always the same person), show them the photos and repeat EXACTLY what you had asked for. Then say "I have been to an independent salon and sought advice and their opinion was...".

I've been there and done that. I got a refund - in products, which I then sold on Ebay for more than the appointment cost. And my hair grew and the hideous highlights were disguised by my new hairdresser, whose advice I had sought and who offered me a free cut & finish to sort it out as it was such a mess.
