The National Trust run Giants Causeway now charge £8.50 per head car park+vistor centre+causeway fee. You can park in Bushmills nearby and take bus, or park some distance away and walk. National Trust members get in free. Have a read here http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attractions-g186471-Activities-County_Antrim_Northern_Ireland.html
It is free to see the causeway if you have already seen the visitor centre (not worth seeing twice IMHO). Last year we took the Bushmills train with the kids and walked the causeway for free. You can park the car at the causeway end of the train line for £3 and walk up the wee hill to the causeway.
I know it is National Trust etc... and takes money to maintain but paying £22 the previous year for us and 2 kids kind of irked me for all the visitor centre hadThey should really provide a parking only option at the site, I would happily pay £5 for this.
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:0 -
What distance is it from the car park to the Causeway?0

The wee train station car park at the causeway is about 300 yards from the causeway visitor centre, but is up quiet a steep hill with no footpath, may not be ideal for anyone with difficulties.
As others have said, there is a park and ride facility at Bushmills, it may be ideal and avoids the visitor centre charge, as it is not really worth seeingI am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:0 -

Apparently you don't have to pay to park at the Carrick-a-rede rope bridge :money: but you do have to pay £5.60 per adult to cross it.0

Hubby and I are going with my parents tomorrow and the weather forecast isn't great. Hopefully though we will have a great time, lovely food (based on the recommendations in this thread) and create some wonderful memories!! :beer:0

if your planning to travel about, best places to go are dunluce castle, giants causeway and bushmills distillery, all in bushmills. further along the coast is carrick-a-reed rope bridge. If you go a little more inland, go to the dark hedges in armoy, these are some of the best places to go to, you will be amazed by it all. You will however need transport (hire car).0
