Reality Check with Second Job

Hi All,

I have a second job in a shop that I work in two out of every three Saturdays, the work is fairly mundane but I was looking at my finances last night and when everything averages out for the year I'm making £17 per week from it.

I always wanted my second job to keep my car on the road but obviously at £17 per week this isn't working out. Does anyone have any good ideas as to how to make a better income on my Saturdays? I know I could opt to work more hours but the shop already eats up enough of my Saturdays as it is and I don't want to spend too much time there.

Thanks

Glad you've worked this out. Solution: higher paying job. That's it in simple terms.

It should have dawned on me sooner, in relation to the higher paying job - it's difficult to get something part time that is above minimum wage.

Job sharing a well paid full time job can work out.
These and well paid part time jobs tend to be in the public sector.

Another option might be a compressed week and/ or some working from home?

Other options are doing temp work?

I have a full time Monday to Friday job that ends at 17:00, there is no flexibility available.

I have attempted the usual, sold all odds and ends and complete in one of the reward sites that pays vouchers for completing surveys.

Saturdays ... more than minimum wage .... not all day ... I see one route: Holiday lettings cleaning.

This pays more than NMW as the slots between people leaving and next ones arriving is so short.

    Where are they advertised?
