Expat mortgage - desperate.

I'm British, but working in the US.

I've been trying for weeks to get a buy-to-let mortgage for a flat I'm buying in London but seems no lenders will touch me because I'm overseas

It's looking bleak.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Have you looked for a broker who deals in expat mortgages?

Its not something I do, although I have done a mortgage for an EU national who lives outside the UK so I imagine it can be done.

We used to do loads of expat / btl mortgages but both of the lenders we used regularly pulled out of the market.
Not sure if anything has changed, so would be worth trying a broker as ACG says.

The two issues when we do them tend to be:

lending too modest, our preferred lender does not like the small ones

Out of the UK too long, makes it difficult for our back up lenders to make a decision
