21st birthday holiday

Options
I shall be celebrating my 21st birthday in January 2015 so I am looking at making it a special one. I shall be doing the normal family meal near the day but I am thinking that I will go on a week's holiday the following week. I don't mind where I go but nothing too expensive as I will need to find a hotel and that will add to the costs.
Any ideas?

What about hiring a caravan? You'll have more freedom than if you stayed in a hotel and as budget holidays go they're pretty much the cheapest.

could be a bit chilly in Jan in a caravan?

Are there any city deals then? It has to be the off season for tourists! Depends what you like but think Chester, York, Durham for historic., Brighton for sea as well.

Stay on a Youth hostel? They have family rooms rather than a dorm

Perhaps post this question on the UK holiday board

Who are you going with? Or on your own?

Try Vegas for your 21st! If you split the room price with a couple of friends it can end up being super cheap! San Francisco would be a fun vacation as well!

I heard them talking about Air B&B on the radio (may have been Jeremy Vine show?)
Looks like you can rent a shared room, a room or a whole house/ apartment in lots of different places, UK included. Check everything on line- read reports of owners and write ups by the renters. Works out a whole lot cheaper than hotels and you may get an insiders view of the town/ city.
