One Direction concert

Options
I am due to attend this concert on Saturday night. Our tickets are for the Upper Hogan (I think) which is very, very high. I have recently been diagnosed with Vertigo and the seating will not be suitable for me. I have contacted MCD a number of times last week and I finally got a reply.........'You should have read the fine print.........we cannot accommodate you......get someone else to take your daughter to the concert.......'

Is there anything else I can do ? I don't want to disappoint my daughter and I'm disappointed in their lack of customer care...

Thanks for reading

    Hi Freefromdebt,

There is little they can do to be honest

With vertigo as you'll be aware, it won't matter where you sit or stand, it's a symptom that affects your balance iro of place. I hope it either clears in time for you on Saturday or you get a good friend or family member to accompany your daughter.

I wish you a speedy recovery

Not sure if this will work but worth a try -

I know of a supporter, that during one the All-Ireland finals that Tyrone were involve in, went to their seat in one of the top levels and took fear, they were moved into seats on one the lower decks that are kept aside for these situations.

Not sure what the arrangements are for concerts tho.

You'd be far better going to a decent concert like Guns N' Roses.

there is indeed seats kept "unsold" at football matches for a number of reasons including this reason, and if seats are broken etc, but agian i am not sure if the same applies to concerts.

i have a different problem, i am standing on the pitch was my 16 YO daughter, and my problems include... what if it rains, what if i need to pee and we lose our place... what if i get tired... :o:)

I would have thought there genuinely is very little the promoters can do, given how many ailments might impact people who have tickets in seats like this - back injuries, limps, arthritis, etc. All of those might limit movement and ability to get to the seat. And i guess they get a lot of chancers coming up with various reasons why their ailment warrants a seat thats coincidentally closer to the stage.

Havent been to Croke park, but i'm assuming that you access the seating area from the rear so you shouldnt have too many upward steps to traverse.

As has been said, vertigo isnt impacted by a height difference between sitting in the top row at a concert and sitting at a front row. If your vertigo is that bad - and i remember when i had it it took several months to settle on medication - you might be best asking a friend of family member to attend in your place - the effort of getting there could be a bigger problem than the location of the seats. :(

the upper hogan is VERY high up, with lots of steps, both to get in, and once you are in (to use toilets etc) i once had a seat in the very back row, and tho i am not afraid of heights, i thought i was going to pass out!

Was being slightly tongue in cheek piglet74. :p

I struggle at the Odyssey Arena - not so much the height but the lack of handrails for the very steep steps with a mobility restricted sister. I will only take her there in future if we can afford ground floor seats.
