Confused? credit file clean up

Hi

I've started cleaning up my credit files, on the whole they weren't too bad, just 2 creditors not having marked the accounts as settled.(The accounts were included in a bankruptcy 4 years ago)

Have sent the letters out as per the clean up thread but just wanted to clarify a couple of things.

The default dates for both were pre-bankruptcy so that's OK but they've marked the settlement date last month not discharge date. Does that matter??

Also, Experian is showing 3 accounts as defaulted yet 'settled'. Again, does this matter or do lenders just see that it's classed as settled??

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

  • Hi, anyone able to help?

I'm trying to get my credit file into the best possible shape for a mortgage application thru our broker.

Experian is showing three accounts as 'Default' but satisfied and I'm not sure if that's right or not.

    Santander is showing:
    'Default', defaulted 02/2010
    'Satisfied', satisfaction date 03/2014
    Partially Settled, start date 04/2014

    Cap1 is showing:
    'Default', defaulted 06/2009
    'Satisfied', no satisfaction date
    Partially Settled, start date 04/2011

    M&S is showing:
    'Default', defaulted 09/2009
    'Satisfied', no satisfaction date
    Partially Settled, start date 03/2011

Bankruptcy was 02/2010 and discharge was 02/2011

Should M&S and C1 have a 'satisfaction date' or are they ok as they are and does the 'Satisfied date' and 'Start date' for Santander need to be my discharge date?

    Thanks

It's not going to make any difference to your mortgage application what these exact dates are. All three are showing as defaulted either at or prior to your bankruptcy. They will all drop off 6 years after the default date. The bankruptcy marker will drop off after 6 years.
