Hi guys,

I have an engagement ring and wedding band that are about 16 years old. They werent massively expensive as far as I know. Anyway, all that is now ancient history and I'd like to make a little money from them. Anyone know the best way to do this? Can't be bothered with eBay or that type of thing. Do local jewellers take this kind of stuff?! or value it for you? Any recommendations? Sorry, i dont know how that type of thing works. Thanks for your help.

I brought an old ring to Joseph Rea, offered me a half decent price & gave me cash. It was nothing special just a plain gold damaged ring.

I had looked into other places after that as I've a few other pieces I want to get rid of. Seems hatton gardens has a good reputation, so maybe try there. http://www.hattongardenmetals.com/scrap-gold-prices.aspx

Thanks. Any idea if Joseph Rea would take a diamond ring and take into account the value of the diamond - or will they just give me scrap gold money?

I guess scrap money would be better than nothing, but I'd like the best price I can get.

Unless its a high grade diamond I doubt it. You could ask if they only want it for scrap metal to have the diamond back.

You could try Gordon House Jewellers opposite McDonalds at Connswater. He does the Ebay selling for you but charges a fair fee too though. Also try McNeilly's of Lombard Street. There's also Ross's auctions who will put it in their online jewellery auctions which are run about every 6 months I think

Other than joining a local selling site, and selling it on there where you virtually get instant cash, you will likely only get scrap value for jewellery nowadays.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Ask me to marry you and I will say yes and take it of your hands.

    For free of course.;)
