Mortgage Application, continuous employment and pay in lieu of notice

Hi,

This is my first post, I‘ve done a search but can‘t find anyone who‘s answered this before.

We‘ve had an offer accepted on a property as FTBs and our broker arranged our DIP with Skipton. It took a few days for approval as it was referred to an underwriter. We got approved this morning for 90% LTV and one of the requirements was that my husband confirm 12 months‘ continuous employment because he got a new job in September.

We thought that wasn‘t a problem but now I‘m not so sure. Husband started a job in April 2013 but in July he was made redundant because the contract he was working on fell through. He was given 2 months‘ notice plus an extra 3rd months‘ pay (by way of apology really), and was told he didn‘t have to go back in to work his notice period. He got all 3 months‘ pay in his July payslip.

He was looking for a new job for 7 weeks and started a new job in September, where he still is now.

We thought that because he was made redundant in July but with 2 months‘ notice, his employment with his former employer ended in September so that would be continuous into his current job, however when sorting all our evidence out his P45 is dated July. The letter confirming his redundancy says that he is entitled to 2 months‘ notice, but also says that his last "day of work" is in July.

It doesn‘t specifically state anywhere that he is being paid in lieu of notice.

Husband is going to contact his old employer on Monday to see if they can confirm the situation. If they say he finished in July, are we likely to be rejected? Skipton‘s website say that first time buyers need 12 months‘ continuous employment.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Just in case anyone was wondering, we got a letter from husband‘s former employer confirming employment dates which included the notice period. We‘ve now submitted our full application and it‘s been approved subject to valuation which will take place in the next 7 days.
