Just a hint about gifts, I have recently changed the way I do birthdays. I sent my niece a gift box - DVD, book, note book, scented candle, hand cream, a nice card (packed in an old shoe box with recycled tissue and wrapping paper). All items I already had. I spent a fiver to post them. It was by far the cheapest birthday gift I have given her and by far the one she enjoyed recieving the most.
Have a look at what you have already got, can make.
Might help to reduce the gift budget.

That's a great idea solvencyseeker thanks
I have been thinking about the gifts thing today, I have recently taken up crochet and have been getting lots of ooohhhs and ahhhhs over the things I have made. I figured I could start making Christmas presents now, the options are limitless from the usual hats and scarves to home gifts like blankets, cushions and even bunting.
Also I make Sloe gin in September which is ready by Christmas and I have been known to make some wicked lemon curd too.... I could make homemade gift basketsV xxx

Hi,
Well done on you LBM, just a point on the christmas prezzy side of things, if you make sloe gin already, for your adult friends you can always make them a bottle of sloe, blueberry etc gin, decanted into small bottles with a ribbon nice small prezzy :-)
Good Luck
