A newly formed think tank, based at the Cardiff Global Centre for Economic Knowing and Future Thoughts (the CGC EKaFT), published a report earlier this week suggesting a number of radical economic strategies for the UK.

The headline recommendation of the report was the suggestion to "slash" the Bank of England base rate to 0.25% or less, arguing that the lowering of base rates would "benefit those who deserve it most", and that it would "stabilise the UK economy" by "allaying fears" of a rate rise by "demonstrating [the Bank of England's] commitment" to low rates.

Other possible courses of action considered in the report included the creation of a framework to allow individuals to lend mortgages to one another on a non-commercial basis. Dubbed "friend-gages", the posited arrangement would allow an individual to use personal knowledge of the credit-worthy-ness of another to safely provide more affordable credit, while simultaneously seeing an improved return on their long term savings.

Dr Twatbeak, who chairs the CGC EKaFT, said in the press conference announcing the release of the report:
Basically, there's no down-side to what we're suggesting. Anyone who says otherwise is clearly a plum.
If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.

I read that report, an eminent professor of Economics - Dr Phil McKavity dismissed Dr Twatbeaks statement.

Dr Phil McKavity was supported fully by Dr Ben Doon ..... Ben Doon and Phil McKavity were satisfied.

Well I certainly won't be disputing the report. I'm no plum.

I didn't realise there were any other Cardiff based posters on the economy board. Should probably arrange a meetup ...

I used to be ... left as I couldn't find jobs (they mostly wanted Welsh speakers).... then the big agency on the main road phoned to ask me "are you still looking for a job?" and I said "Yes, I passed your window last week and you just had two in the window...." and she replied "Er, yeah, that's all we've got". So I asked her if she's got any jobs and she replied "No, I'm just phoning everybody to see if they are still looking"
