Where can I get this done ?

Options
I have been dieting ( mainly for health reasons ) and wanted to get my body fat tested .......accurately . I have seen a few of these machines in chemists, been told these machines in chemists etc are not that reliable, but is there anywhere else would test this for me ?

Some GP's might refuse as it is hardly an illness. Perhaps the OP will have to go private.

Unless it is specifically related to an ongoing and acute health condition in which case your GP would be able to refer you, or you are aiming to be an elite athlete, the machines in shops are generally accurate enough for general health information purposes. The other option would be to pay for a session with a private dietician/nutritionist etc, but it seems an expensive option for a normal person.

    Hi

The bioelectrical impedance scales in Chemists and the like are highly inaccurate.

My bodyfat was off by nearly 10% compared with more accurate measurement.

Find a good gym and get a Caliper test from a Personal Trainer who knows what they're doing.

University of Ulster also have a BodPod (which you can Google for more info.) and periodically offer deals - I think I paid £50 for two sessions.

Next to the Gold Standard (a DEXA test) these would be your best bet for an accurate reading.

chest heart and stroke come to our workplace every couple of years and give all staff a full health check including cholesterol and body fat composition, I think they also do it for people at their HQ - http://www.nichs.org.uk/304/nurse-health-assessments

Can you find someone local who used to run Rosemary Conley diet and fitness classes - apparently RC has gone bust but a lot of the franchisees now offer their own diet, health and fitness clubs. Anyway, periodically these classes brought Tanika fitness scales to the class and for £1 extra, members got a whole lot of extra measurements including body fat composition.
