I did this yesterday so I could get Minecraft for, effectively, £3. The Amazon coins will continue to be valid until May 31st 2015.

(San Andreas on Amazon claims to be incompatible with most devices, but if you're buying it for the coins anyway, just do it!)

Works like a dream. Great tip. Even if you don't use these apps, it's worth it just to get over £20 worth of future Amazon Apps free.

My device won't even let me download the amazon App Store in the first place even though I ve ticked the thing to allow it

You can spend like real money, but only within the Amazon App store. Each coin is worth £0.01, and you'll get the option at checkout to use coins, instead of real currency.
