Coalfish/coley is a member of the cod family along with pollack, ling, rockling and pouting.
I find the taste a little stronger than cod but still very nice.
As to basa which is actually river catfish (also member of cod family) some disreputable chip shops have tried to pass it off as cod. Basa is farmed in the southern states of America and in the Mekong delta in Vietnam.
The countries have actually had an economic war over basa which given their past is ironic.
