I'll be visiting Stirling with relatives with children and am wondering if Blairdrummond Safari Park is worth a visit. Any advice?

I don't have any advice really, but its worth visiting. My OH loves to watch the Lions when we go. Put the kids on the boat where they go round the monkey island and you'll get some peace for a wee while.0

We've been a few times and kids have been at other times with school. We've always had a great day, although we have no other safari park experience to compare it too.
Usually busy, so would advise getting there early (preferrably for opening at 10am.)
The website also had a free child voucher earlier this year when we last went - not sure if still there though.
Overall, highly recommended.
We have also been to Auchingarrich Wildlife Park (just south of Comrie) which was good to. The kids got to help feed the animals, which they enjoyed.Today is the first day of the rest of your life0 -
ooh we are going to blairdrummond safari one day this week. the free child voucher is still on the website you just need to print it off. We really enjoy it and find that your visit lasts a whole day and you don't get bored. If it is a nice day take a picnic or better still they have bbqs you can use for free so take some sausages and burgers, there is a play area with a giant wooden pirate ship taht children can climb on and loads of sand - there are spades and if the children dig in the sand they can find vouchers for a free balloon or a small teddy from the souvenir shop.
hope you have a lovely time0 -
Blairdrummond Safari Park is definitely worth a visit - on a fine day (or even a wet one) the kids have a great time on the giant fort. DEFINITELY take your own food!! A couple of years ago we took relatives from the US there - they didn't want to take a picnic ("eating out different places is all part of our holiday experience") but lived to regret it. The food in the cafe was predictable, overpriced and really unappetising! Of course, it may have improved but why take the risk!?! There are a good number of picnic tables scattered around.
The monkey island boat trip is great and also the sea-lion show is worth a look.0 -
yep agree with everything everyone has said. It's a great day out, my two never tired of it and we went loads of times. Yes, take your own food, cool box with drinks and bbq stuff and then you're just buying icecreams etc.
Good idea to get there early, it does get very busy and you'll want a nice picnic spot near the play area.
have fun!0 -
I love it - its really great. The shows are brill and its great to see the animals wandering around.Especially in the small animal enclosure where you can pat a pot belly pig and try to get close to the lamas ! - plus the little meercats are gorgeous. Definately far better than zoos and always a great day out.Just a shame they have never sorted out their catering facillities. Have fun anyone who goes- im envious .0

I had a great time and the children loved it. It's well worth a visit if you go to central Scotland. And yes, we did take our own picnic!0

I was there last year and the kids loved it!
Its best to get there early and they have a limited number of barbeques that you can use but I think you need to book these. It is nice to have something hot to warm you up on a cold summers day!0
