Hi
I am considering getting critical illness cover and was wondering about the merits of using an IFA. I have done some research online into the different products and just wondering about why you need an IFA as opposed to just using one of the price comparison tools.
I was also hoping that MSE forumites could recommend an IFA that they have used in the past in Belfast/North Down area.
Many thanks in advance

If you know exactly what cover you need -cut out the middle man and do it yourself online, it will be the same product after all.0

Thanks for all the recommendations. I was thinking of going it alone as I am quite clear about what I need. Then I read reports saying you should use an IFA for these types of cover. I am not sure if it is scare tactic or not so I was going to do some more research into IFAs before going it alone. Thanks again0

Quite clear about what you need in terms of sum assured and term, or with a policy that suits you best?
Buy on illness covered and it's for most its Pru every time - 150+ conditions - but many are incredibly rare and unlikely and they also operate a graduated payout system dependent on severity of the illness.
Buy on price and there ae one or two standouts - but the reduced price comes with restrictions to cover and some illnesses excluded.
Look at ABI+ definitions within the policy to see if they exceed the criteria set by the Association of British Insureres.
Some providers also offer partial payouts for less severe illnesses that others would not cover at all.
