Hello.
I declared myself bankrupt in March 2008 & I was discharged in October 2008.
I am aware that credit reference agencies such as Experian automatically update & delete my bankruptcy from my credit file after 6 years, but could someone tell me if this is from the date of my bankruptcy or the date of my discharge?
I am told it is from the date the bankruptcy was made but would just like to confirm this.
Also, is there anything else I should do RE: my credit rating?
Many thanks.

Yes you should check your credit reports to see if any entries from your creditors were incorrect (there's lots of posts about this on the forum and a couple up in the stickies) as a lot put the wrong default date, so that stays on your file until 6 years is up, I just found a problem with Lloyds as they were still reporting my account as defaulted 4 years after I went BR, so I am now trying to get this corrected otherwise it will be another 4 years till that drops off.Life is like a game of Snakes & Ladders, i almost made it to the top but now i'm at the bottom again and its a very long ladder to the top. I had it all and now its gone
Well my 6 years are now up, now to start to rebuild my life again

I have 18 months left until my BR drops off and I have started to clean up my files in readiness of that wonderful day.
I found so much incorrect information on my file so best to start asap. Seems to take an age to update everything.
The BR drops of from the day you are declared BR.I love green dots :T I hate red dots :mad:0
