Don't shout plse, bank accounts.....

Hi all,

I was BRO 22/12/2009 and I have a cashminder account with the Co-operative bank and all is going well. My wages are paid into this account and bills paid from this account all no problem, i understand this wont be looked at or upgraded until after the BRO drops off of my file.

I was thinking of opening the basic Barclays account and using it for the spare cash after my bills have been paid from the co-operative account and whats left at the end of the month goes into our savings account. Does this seem a bit long winded and how would this affect my credit rating. I would like to eventually move over to Barclays for all my banking in the future.

Any thoughts?

Both Barclays and the co-op report to the CRA's so having a few more green dots on your report will look good :)

I use both, the co-op account for wages and direct debits and Barclays for day to day living. Seems to work for me :)

Barclays would allow you to open a basic account but I would go in and speak to them rather than try and do it online or over the phone. Don't know if it would do much for your credit rating as there is no credit facility with a basic account.

Thanks for that, As I said I bank with the Co-Op and they offer nothing in the way of credit but they do report back to all 3 agencies with everything from account details to addresses and associates. I have no problem with that at all.

I want to start putting money away and rebuilding my life, i am able to save about £500 a month and I want to get back to a good steady credit file and healthy balance

  • Hi
I don't understand how you can save £500 a month if you are bankrupt? Surely that is excess income and the OR would take it? Or am I being stupid ...? lol

The OP has been discharged for sometime, so the money is the OP's :)
  • Cool!
Well done on getting back to the stage where you can save again, Rrushi. That must feel great!
Sorry I didn't read the OP properly..
  • Hahahaha yes I have 18 months left until complete freedom (unless asked on a form)

I have a new life with a new partner, I am able to save as I have a very good index linked final salary pension and my better half has here home.
Life is very very good and I have never been happier (Apart from my credit files)

There is hope and I am starting to see the light and I am running towards it.
