Court order- Transfer of property

My husband and I got divorced in 2009. Since then, me along with my son have been living in this house which has been allotted by council through catalyst housing. The issues is that the house is on my husband's name and I have been living in this house since 10 years. The council is demanding me to transfer the house on my name now. I concerned a solicitor and he said there are two ways to sort this issue out. Firstly, we get the consent of the my husband. However, we are not on talking terms and I don't want to have any sort of contract with him since we didn't go through a velvet divorce. Secondly, he suggested that we go through court and get a court order which according to him will cost me around £3000. To be honest I cannot arrange this much money and I wanted some advice that how can I get the court order my self. If I would know the name of the form needed by the court and some legal help I think I can manage it on my own without paying this much money to the solicitor.

Hi..............& welcome!
I'm not sure you have posted on the right board for this sort of question?
However, to kick start an answer, I think you have already answered your own question? If I would know the name of the form needed by the court and some legal help I think I can manage it on my own without paying this much money to the solicitor.
I suggest going straight to the horse's mouth?
Go to the County Court which covers your area, you want the Court Office.
The Clerks will be helpful, and will tell you what paperwork you need.
There will be some expenditure, as any legal process involves Court fees. [The bulk of any Court costs, stem from Solicitors' own fees]....
Also, most Solicitors offer a free advice service..usually the first 30 minutes? No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0
