Which HMRC Tel Number?

Id like to ring and check on a refund of a payment on account which I made in January, which will be repaid to me as I've done my SA and there is no tax due. Which telephone number do I call for SA? Is it 0300 200 3310? I hate ringing at the best of times so its helpful if I can get the right number to start with! TIA.

You're right to hate ringing. I won't do it. On the rare occasions I've had to communicate with them I always do it in writing (sorry, don't know the number).0 -
That looks like the right number, it's the one that saynoto0870 has for SA. I've actually always found HMRC to be pretty good on the phone if you can get through, and the best time of day for that is as early as possible - last time I rang (a different bit of HMRC) I called at 8 am and it was answered within 5 minutes.0

I'd rate 5 mins as quite bad. I also found their so-called "security" was entirely over the top, asking a ridiculous number of questions, and to cap it all, when I asked them if I was due a refund the cheeky sod on the other end said "we are here to collect information, not to give it out". But what really gets on my wick is how they refer to us, the people who pay their wages, as "customers"!0 -

Honestly, no one who works for HMRC wants to call people 'customers' - you may want to take Lyn Homer or such to task over it. They insist that we are all customers and take no notice of the vast majority who don't like the term.0 -
That is the correct number but you have to go through the automated system which asks to tell us in a few words why you are calling, it will then, if you're lucky repeat what you said and you have to say yes or no. Then you will end up with a list of options and once you've finally got through all that you will either be told that all lines are busy to call back later or be put on hold. If you write the chances are you will get a reply some time in July (if you're lucky).
If you've completed the return online and a repayment is due it should show on your account. It takes a day or two to update. Once it appears you can claim the refund online.0
