When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.:money:

            Morning!
A successful mse day yesterday so I'm continuing the good work today
- update spreadsheet with weekend spends as the appear on account
 - move £50 that OH pinged back to me
 - let OH know how much is left in the "fun fund" so he can think ahead about what he'd like us to spend it on (wedding anniversary coming up - he's got far grander plans than our remaining £80 will stretch to)
 - charge phone in work
 - B/L/D from stores - eggy bread/chicken salad/fish, chips and veg
 - Think about tomorrow's meals so I don't buy stuff
 - NSD
 - search for new plastic greenhouse cover to find cheapest
 - continue to tend veg
 - sow more radishes
 - poss a little bit of overtime but stuff to do at home really
 - some crochet later
making a daffodil throw. My aim eventually is to have one for each season. I've already got my winter one which is snowflake granny hexagons.

            Good morning all.
Thanks for starting us ziggy.
Feeling really frustrated today, our new kitchen that was supposed to take 3 days has so far taken 36 days
Today we have a plumber in who is dealing with a leaking pipe that was uncovered during the damp proofing works - probably the reason for the damp in the first place, gah. The costs are really mounting up
Anyway. Onwards and upwards.
Today I have/will:
1. Checked my online banking - all ok.
2. Checked Quidco - 78p confimed but can't withdraw until I reach £1. Still no £60 from Vodafone.
3. Checked mobile bill - due to switching to SIM only just after paying bill my bill this month is only £2.16!
4. Booked in a Mystery Dine for lunch in Bristol while we're on holiday. Will need to ensure I can complete the report by 12pm the next day though.
5. B,L,D and snacks from stores.
6. Finished free e-book.
7. Watched programme on Sky Go Extra free trial this morning on the train.
8. Checked through mortgage statement - under £60,000 for the first time, hoorah!
9. Birthdaybingo, Freepostcodelottery and InboxPounds.
10. Sell dusty pram parasol for £2 tonight. Forgot to check it still worked so must do this as soon as I get home.
11. Charge phone and tablet at work.
I think that's all for today. Have happy DFW days all.0 -

Morning - room for one more?

My plans are:- Think happy thoughts so it doesn't rain - there's two loads of washing out on the line

 - [STRIKE]Return the expensive dress I don't really *need*[/STRIKE]
 - [STRIKE]Pay £20 cash from my purse in to the bank to reduce temptation[/STRIKE] Paid in £25. Beware the glint from my halo

 - Cancel my phone insurance and look online for a cheaper version. Paying £15 a month to insure a phone is madness. Aiming for around a fiver.
 - Use up leftover chorizo to make tasty jambalaya for dinner.

            Morning money savers,
Today's small positive things:
*Still no bathroom suite so still having to wash in kitchen sink which as we're now into our 2nd week of no baths must be saving some serious hot water!
*Made more bread rolls for freezer, also made mini focaccia bread as if they're foiled & frozen they are perfect for packed lunches, picnics, etc. Usually they're defrosted by the time we get to wherever we're having our picnic.....except the time we had a picnic in February & mr f said 'Babe, why have I got a giant bread ice-cube?' (He still ate it!)
*More home-grown radishes, herbs, rocket picked to go in tonight's salad.
*Checked greenhouse veggies for further naughty nibbling. We think we caught the serial offender last night by going down there with a torch. No more damage. Hope that was him!
*Weeded shallot bed thoroughly before the weeds start holding our crops back.
*2 items I was going to throw out....a) some metal polish I never, ever use & b) a broken mobile I bought years ago from a craft fair made from cleverly bent & shaped recycled vintage silver cutlery & glass marbles. Well, I applied a) to b) & it's all looking so good, I'm going to re-string it & hang in the tree on our courtyard. This has given me just the same buzz I used to get from buying a new thing (which would invariably have been from my permanent overdraft or on a cc).
*Checked for surveys.....screened out of most of them today.
*Do a bit more knitting....am getting together a basket of stuff for selling. First will have to unpick the idiot mistake I made this morning when I stupidly tried to knit before I'd had any caffeine.
*Post mr f's phone off to Fonebank....should be £24 coming our way for bathroom fund.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunches & work snacks.
*Wrap 2 birthday presents (mostly home-made) using all recycled wrappings/ribbons from my box of such things, plus upcycled gift-tags I made myself.
*Had another look at recent energy bill. Out account is £44 in debit as we go into the next billing period. This time last year, we were entering the next billing period with a debit of £195 so when you consider the fact that prices have risen, that's got to be an improvement. Must try to keep all my little energy-saving ways going.
*Was going to throw my birthday bouquet away today, but there were a few things in it still looking ok, so I re-cut the stems of those & re-arranged them as a smaller posy & they look fine.
That's it from me. Can't wait to get all the plaster dust cleared up....I've been hoovering every night when workmen have gone home but it makes little difference....floors need a really good wash. Monday should be the last day if no nasty surprises turn up with the electrics......with our house, anything's possible........ :-/
Cheers,

            Good afternoon all.
Feeling much better today after a good nights sleep (and a chat to OH yesterday about the "plan"). Thank you for your kind words Ziggy (am still working on the Facebook thing - have got two profiles I think....)
Also helped that the sun came out yesterday and we sat in the garden after work for a while.
Was surprised to find that OH had worked out a system of filtering and re-using the oil he used for our roasties on Sunday (he uses a lot) - bowl, sieve and kitchen paper involved. He must be listening after all
.
Today we all have had breakfast at home, packed lunches and dinner from fridge (curry or jacket spuds). Still haven't braved the ancient frozen liver....
I'm still knitting the jumper I started for Dad's birthday (4th March). Maybe it will be finished for next year.
Love reading all your posts. Really appreciating my shower and bath at the moment
Best wishes all x0 -
