She has got a good credit score if that even exists. She has a few cc that are paid off every month. Never missed a payment etc. I make sure of it :).

Anyways we will be popping into branch tmrrow to complain as its a bloody stupid rule. Granted it was her !!!! up but still I'm sure many people have done the same or similar. suppose can only see what they say.

Would an official complant actually change the outcome? Will it effect in a negative way in the future.

    Thanks JB

    1) Probably not, but you'll only know by trying, rather than asking a bunch of randoms on a forum.

    2) Could do, if they mark you down as troublemakers on their internal scoring system.

    Worth a shot complaining.

Also you never mentioned that she has any credit cards before now. If she already has "a few" credit cards, why is she trying to get more? I'd just keep paying them off in full for at least another year and then try to move to a prime card.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.

She wants to make a large purchase so went for a interest free cc. The credit isn't an issue after we found out that wasnt the problem. I am just asking if the formal complaint is worth while or not.

Nobody will know, only the complaint people in Barclays. You seem to feel strongly about it, so write the complaint and let us know in due course the response.
