Out of the blue - Cheque for compensation, is it correct?
Hello all.
Well out of the blue i got a letter from Barclays today saying that "according to the CCA, we sent you incorrect infomration on your previous loan, we weren't entitled to charge interest on your loan from the time of the error in the agreement, until the time we fixed it". - cheque was attached for £778.89.
Not a bad letter to receive in all honesty :rotfl:
It was a career development loan for me to do my Masters degree, i have paid it off more than a year ago. I didn't even know i had a claim so good on Barclay's for doing this, however i feel they didint do it by choice in all likelihood.
I was just wondering am i getting all im entitled too?
Since i knew nothing about it, should i moan or should i look to press them for interest on the value of the compensation etc?
Just wondering if i can squeeze them a little more, got a baby on the way lol.
Cheers

Hi there
how odd, I just got the same today. The loan has been paid off a last year and I received a cheque from barclays regarding the same thing for £1600. Good start to the week.0 -
No harm in asking them for their calculations.
Given you did nothing to chase them for it you're probably being a bit cheeky
Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
I don't think it cheeky at all - I've been chasing Barclays for months on it and they kept on saying there was nothing I could do to get my loan higher up the pecking order, so I don't think chasing or not is important.
Incidentally, having chased again today on reading your posts, the lady on the phone told me that if I was going to receive a refund I would have heard by now - I mentioned about reading on here that cheques had been received out of the blue and she said no, that's not correct, 'the minority' of customers who were due a refund would have heard a while back and that the final cheques are going out now. I know how I believe (and it's not Barclays)
I did have particular reason for believing I was due a refund, so am asking for proof that my account was all documented ok.... but am not hopeful, the customer seems to have very limited right of access in this situation0 -
Britguy I would submit my request in writing and ask for a copy of the original loan agreement and any subsequent changes if you're worried.0

Think I'm just going to accept the cheque and leave it.0
